Mini-Review | A quick disclaimer. I am in no way affiliated with Seiwa. This is an honest review that I wanted to do for my blog. And just a fun way for me to dabble in being a snack connoisseur. This content wasn’t designed to bash a brand/company, but just my honest feedback as a consumer. I paid for everything so this isn’t going to be a tainted review to credit or discredit the company.

My sister brought home this Cream Cookie Puff one night and I’ve been hooked ever since. Every time I stop by Seiwa, I always have to get one. It has the most perfect texture ever! It tickles your throat and it’s so satisfying to eat. I’d legally marry this cream puff if I could! Institutions are going to get involved before they separate us! ♡♡♡

The Mille Crepe-Vanilla was something I was very excited to pick up. I always see Mille Crepe cakes in mangas or anime that I watch but I never get to try it. A flavor that I really want to get my hands on is the Matcha one, but they didn’t seem to have that in their inventory yet. This almost tasted very similar to the cream puff, but it felt too saggy. It was OK so I gave it three stars. I think my expectations of a Mille Crepe cake blowing my mind is what made me lower my rating.

I gave the Takoyaki two stars simply because I’m not a big fan of octopus? Sorry octopus fans. My sister actually loves this stuff. I would have preferred a different filling like a Vienna sausage with cheese or something. I’m biased and that’s why it got a two. But there was nothing wrong with how it was served or prepared.

The Daily Special Bento, I almost gave a three. But I decided to go with four. Because I really enjoyed it overall. The Tamago was soft and fluffy. The tempura on point. The snow edamame was great for cleansing your palate. The rice mixed with veggies was really interesting. I deducted a star because the seaweed seems to have gone bad, by 25%. Let me explain. I was enjoying the seaweed salad because it seems to taste like every other seaweed salad, I’ve tried before, but when it got to the part where I swallowed it, it kind gave off a bad after taste. I made have picked up a bad one. But I checked the expiration date and it seems far off from expiring. So that’s the reason why I couldn’t give it a five star.

The Yakisoba was standard. I gave it a three. I wish I had a hot dog bread because that’s my favorite way of eating it. But it’s good and it got me through all 8 episodes of The Mandalorian. This was my choice of snack for binge-watching Disney + while I still had the free trial. The portion is surprisingly big. I thought I’d be able to finish it within two episodes, but it’s deceivingly small.

Green Tea Tiramisu Mousse I had to give a one. I couldn’t even taste it. I’ve pretty sure my fridge is in the right setting so I don’t think it could have expired before its expiration date. I could have also just picked up a bad one because I remember getting this late at night. So it must not have been one of their fresh stocks. Like a person could have picked it up and walked around the whole store and decided they didn’t want it and it couldn’t stay fresh while in their basket by the time they’ve decided to put it back.

Or if you’d like to get political, I feel the current US administration has severely cut back on FDA regulation staff. So, I feel like there’s also that. And I think that’s why a lot of makeup and food are not getting the quality assessment they deserve.

I don’t like to get political when I’m covering such a light-hearted topic such as food, but there it is. Politics pretty much governs everyone’s lives whether you acknowledge it or not.

I prefer the first scenario, I came up with, but this has also been lingering in my mind for a while so I thought, I’d also include it in this review.

It’s been a pattern, honestly. I also watch food vloggers on Youtube that have also been complaining about food prepared in stores where it expires before their expiration date. And don’t even get me started on cosmetics. That’s been a problem for like a couple of years now. So much disappointment in this department as well. Even with brands that you trust, the quality seems to have gone down, because as I’ve said there aren’t enough people that are checking things that we consume.

Anyway, enough about that. Moving on to the next items.

Craft Boss Tea - Milk Tea and Latte. Also another Chef’s kiss award. Even though this dried out my tongue like no other and it started acting wobbly and weird for like a week, I wouldn’t take back the five stars. It was my fault for not having coconut water in preparing to re-hydrate. I only wish that the English sticker that listed the ingredients was the kind of sticker that peeled off nicely. And in that way, I could re-use the bottle. Because it is so pretty and detailed! I love the boss man with his huge mustache in a cool engraving. I ended up recycling it.

The Okonomiyaki tastes the same as the Yakisoba and The Takoyaki. It’s like the same ingredients just shaped differently lol. I feel like most convenient store foods are designed this way. I could be wrong. It took a while before I could taste the bacon.

I remember making this from scratch from a Reddit recipe place I used to follow. I think it was called the Hiroshima Okonomiyaki. I made it with my ex about a couple of years ago. I don’t know if a lot of tweaking and substituting made it tastier. Because I know the Japanese palate has more tendency to run mild, so the one from the convenient store is probably the correct way in terms of how it should taste.

That being said, I also struggled with fully enjoying this product. Because like the matcha mousse, I picked this up late at night. Near their closing time which I think is either 7 or 8. And I must have gotten one of the bad batches. Because by the next morning it tasted off even though the expiration date says it’s still safe to consume it for two more days.
