I’ve been reading books as a hobby ever since I was a kid. But even when I became a young adult, I never had the urge to give a book as a present to someone else even though it’s my favorite book of all time. Until this book came along. I have over 150 highlights and annotation of this book according to GoodReads. That’s how much I liked it. Actually, I wish the Kindle app would allow for more color customizations for color coding your highlights because I was running out of key with only the four options available.
I’m not sure how the lending system works for Kindles, but if you can find it at your local library, I highly recommend this book. It didn’t take too long to finish. I think you can finish it in one sitting. But I like being a slow reader. And I like to savor every word. That’s just how I am with every book that I read. Plus also writing down notes, also adds to my reading time.
I’ve been having a really good streak with reading this year. I don’t think I’ve had too many reading slumps in any of the months of 2022 so far, so I’m really proud of that. I think I did for audiobooks, and it was actually reading this book that pulled me out of it. This is only $10 if you buy it digitally, and it’s been really great at helping me get to know each Elder Futhark individually.
I love how Davis organizes all 24 runes into three groups (each consisting of 8 runes) according to the Norse Gods or Goddesses they are associated with. There’s also daily activities included in this book that you can journal in, so that you become even more familiar with each of the rune symbols.
I know this sounds like such a strange way to describe this book, but it felt so kind towards me. Like it was a friend talking gently to me. And every message resonated. This is definitely a 5/5 stars and a must-read in my opinion. I can’t wait to reread it.
Here are some of my favorite quotes from this book:
"We may be too emotional in a rational situation, or too rational in an emotional one." (Naudiz) (ᚾ)
"Envision what you wish you could be when you envision the ultimate you, knowing that you already are that and more." (Opila) (ᛟ)
"Starting with today, see joy as a choice. Joy does not happen to you; you can experience joy any time, as often as you wish." (Wunjo) (ᚹ)

This looks like an interesting book. I haven't gotten into runes yet but I'll add this book to my wishlist for when I do get into runes. ♥

Definitely let me know what you think of it, Michelle, once you get the chance to pick it up ♥ I have an amethyst set for the crystal runes that I picked up and I'm glad that the manual/guide I chose to study runes with it turned out to be a favorite book not just a reference book! I hope you like it too xx
