Book Review: Darkness There: Selected Stories by Edgar Allan Poe

          

Wow, trying to whip up five posts at night is kinda tough lol. I always forget how much work goes into blogging. But I’m trying to put up some posts because I know I’ll probably be gone for a couple of month’s again lol. I’m at the last short story “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” but I just wanted to get this review up quickly. Poe is such a classic, so I feel like I don’t need to pour any praise or one-word review to get you to read him. His works are a classic for a reason. What sets this edition aside, is the gorgeous red, black, white, and grey animated illustrations. I’m definitely rereading this again once Spooky Season is upon us once again. Sorry for the low-res cover. I’ll try to edit this at a later date, so I can show you the eerie animations. This book features “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Raven,” “The Pit and the Pendulum,” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” I wished they included “Berenice” in this set. The red teeth would’ve been so terrifying and would topple the other short-stories as mild, horror reads. But it’s his lesser known work I believe, so maybe that’s understandable.
