Edit// It’s morning time. Happy Leadership to people actually leading the country!
Did you know that European lace was actually from the Philippines? It was made out of piña from pineapple and it’s what we wear for our traditional clothing called terno (baro’t saya). I always liked the sheer top, iconic structured sleeves, with the kamiseta underneath it. It’s so soft and elegant at the same time.
I guess after Richard yelled at me at the autograph table, I started studying the color red. Hence, the title of this post. Since Covid, I wrote Chelsea love letters. She’s always ranked first. I didn’t want there to be an orgy-lingering effect if I placed her in the middle among the sea of men. So, she got the spotlight over everybody else. But that’s until Richard came long, because I think I’ve written more posts about Richard than Chelsea now. She wont’ like that c: These are my notes for Valentine’s Day:
Richard → A Study in Red🔴 elemental, mythic, living fire• Nicolas → A Study in Rouge Vif💋 heat, youth, motion, appetite• Maud (White Swan)→ A Study in Rouge Profond🍷 depth, composure, chosen intimacy• Chelsea (Black Swan) → A Study in Noir🖤 danger, dominance, cinematic desire
I used to associate Richard with different gods and that’s why I created my Pantheon Posts. But in a different mythological lens, Richard would also be: the raven (who waits patiently and circles back), wolf (just outside the hesitation circle but still tracking far and wide), shark (the bigger shark), snake (the other half of Hermes’ caduceus’s staff), dragon (the year that we met), ox (endurance and patience), golden retriever (he was bouncing around everywhere at the autograph table, and silly goose (he made me laugh). Bonus: He’s also a volcano. That’s my nickname for him after he scared me at the autograph table.
The Year of the Snake will end after today. I’m scared. But I’m also hopeful.
Richard is all over me. Symbolically speaking. He’s inside my sketchbook, brain, memory, heart, and left elbow. I even rewrote a myth about him as Zeus trying to seduce Hera as a goose instead of a Swan. It’s very Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh-coded. Just me as mini Hera, and Richard as a goose wearing a puffer jacket in a cottage: reading stories about Hermes, eating soup with a wooden spoon, doing laundry and watching the machine go round like television, and then watching old Disney animated films like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, and listening to Rhythm and Blues.
I’m dying to meet you. Everybody says I’m wrong.
Footnote: “These figures are not claims about a person, but symbolic lenses I use to study memory, color, and desire over time.”
