Book Sample Review: What Once Was Mine (A Twisted Tale) by Elizabeth J. Braswell

4/05/2022

Hey everyone! Welcome back to the final book sample I’m reviewing for this week. I had really high hopes for this book. The cover art is stunning as always. But I just can’t get with the writing. It’s so choppy. Even with just three chapters to read, it felt too long to read because of how dry and boring it was. The premise is good, but it doesn’t really hold up when it comes to executing their idea. I remember reading the other Twisted Tale books by Braswell, and thinking, “Will she ever write anything that appeals to me?” After this latest publication, the answer, sadly, is no. A definite no. I’m not saying all of this to diss on the tragedy that happens in prologue, but I’m just giving my honest opinion. A silver-haired Rapunzel sounds really lovely though, but I wish this book was written better. I will not be picking this book up either in store or the library. And others might argue that it’s too soon to give up on this book, but if I already don’t like the first three chapters, why would I bother continue reading it?

What did you think of this book? Did you like it? Is there a certain way you read this that makes it enjoyable? Comment Below! Thanks for reading. Take care xx
