My Small KB Shimmer Collection | Indie Nail Polish Collection

8/02/2022

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog. Today I'm here to show you my small KB Shimmer collection. I ordered mine from Amazon. They're genuine because I think the owner and seller have decided to expand their storefront so that people who are new to nail polish can start falling in love with Indie brands as I have like the rest of the nail polish community.

My first purchase is "All That Glimmers" a rose gold reflective nail polish that I chose as a 29th birthday gift for myself. It pulls a little too red on me, but it's very pretty in the bottle. My second purchase is "After Midnight," another reflective polish to celebrate the New Year. It is dazzling, but it does require a bit of technique if you're used to slathering on a thick polish for the first coat. Instructions do recommend that you start out with thin layers for a smoother application. I'm just a bit of a goblin so I always go ham with my polishes lol. I definitely need to be careful when applying it next time. I like how it dried textured for both of these reflective polishes. It looked like crushed velvet which was again, very pretty.

The other two polishes that I got are "Creep It Together" which is a magnetic polish. I struggled with this polish at first because I couldn't do the "hovering technique" that other nail polishes do on Youtube. But I was on Instagram the other day, and another girl had this technique here you put the magnet under your finger as you're swiping the brush onto your nails. I owe everything to her for showing me another way to use magnetic polishes, otherwise, I would never get the chance to enjoy magnetic polishes as I do now.

The last polish that I bought is "Shade Shifter" which is just a multi-chrome and not magnetic at the same time. I used all sorts of magnets, until I looked at my Amazon order again, reread the description, and realized, how silly I was for thinking this was a magnetic polish lol.

Out of all the four polishes I currently own from KB Shimmer, my favorites are "Creep It Together" and "Shade Shifter." I just have a good memory attached to these two polishes. Because I remember wearing it during wintertime and I watched a Sci-fi space horror show with our stray cat, Tommy, and these polishes are so pretty, they match the atmosphere and color of the show really well. The name of the show is "The Silent Sea" if you were wondering what show it was. It's on Netflix.

I like the other two polishes during the festive season but I don't think I'm a reflective nail polish kind of gal. I think after two years of finally getting really into nail polish, I can safely say that the polishes I'm into are: creme, holo, bar glitters, and any grainy textured kind of polish. But all of these were so fun to try, and the packaging is simply amazing. I love all the details that went into making these polishes.

I haven't been able to deep dive into Indie polishes that much and that has to do mainly with me not being able to keep up with the releases. But I recently discovered  PPU, (Polish Pick Up) and I think this is the best way for me to get to know more amazing Indie brands like KB Shimmer.

Before I go, I'll go ahead and leave the description of each product on the seller's site because they can just describe the product way better than I can.

All That Glimmers - Snuggled up in front of the fire, the glow from candles and holiday lights illuminates the room. The dancing flames reflect off glittery décor and shiny wrapped gifts, casting a warm, rosy glow that perfectly sets the mood for watching a movie or spending quality time with a loved one. All That Glimmers is a soft, rose gold nail polish loaded with micro reflective pigment. This warm pink hue offers a near matte finish with a subtle texture when worn without topcoat. When a flash of light hits your nails, the silver pigment reflects an unbelievable glimmering twinkle. For a smooth, gleaming finish, top with 1-2 coats of a quick dry topcoat. Best in 2 coats.

After Midnight - Deep in the back of your closet, there’s often that one outfit that makes you feel like a rock star: a flashy dress, a sharp suit, or that glittery number you had to have because it was, “so you” – it may be too much for the light of day, but just right for those late-night gatherings. That flashy number you feel so good in can make you feel like the night is young, even in the wee hours of the morning. After Midnight is as flashy as any sequined dress with its micro light-catching glitter. A deep, near black charcoal color, After Midnight twinkles as light catches the facets of its reflective pigment for a velvet-like look. Worn without topcoat, a near matte finish offers a smooth and subtle texture that feels like fabric. When a flash of light catches your nails, the silver pigment shines through brighter than a billion stars. For a darker, gleaming finish, top with 1-2 coats of a quick dry topcoat. Best in 1-2 coats.

Creep It Together is a magnetic polish that comes alive when the magnet is used to form areas of pink, gold, and green, allowing the deepened black base to set off a flurry of color-shifting flakes, which change from lime, to pink, to hints of blue and gold. At times, pops of purple might also appear in the base.

Shade Shifter is a multi-chrome that changes depending on light and angle from cyan, to blue, to red orange, to purple, and more. I most often see a cyan-blue shade. Best in 3 coats, or 1 coat over black, this polish is one you will have to see to believe! Type: Multi-Chrome Glitter Load: None Glitter Size: None Recommended Coats: Best in 3 coats, or 1 coat over black, this polish is one you will have to see to believe! Notes: None Multi-Chrome polishes are some of the most distracting nail polishes ever. Changing, shifting, morphing colors all based on the angle of your tips. These polishes are jaw-dropping, just by changing the angle you view your nails at, you can see an instant flip of your polish color, no sun or temperature change needed! Just move your fingers and toes and watch the magic as these polish shades dazzle you with their magical color-shifting powers.
