Vader Takes New York | Vader and the Empire State Building | Empire State of Mind | Weekend in NY

11/30/2024

Hey sharks 🦈 . I hope you guys are having an amazing autumn 🍂 so far. I made this trip for my dad as his late birthday present and also for Vader. I wanted Vader to see the Empire State Building. As an ending to my nomad journey after losing him more than a year ago.

I don’t really have any future travel plans as of now. Maybe I’ll take Vader to Chicago (The Windy City) and go to a Cabaret with him lol. Or I could take him to Vegas (Sin City). Do leave me suggestions in the comment below about any travel suggestions you may have.

DAY ONE: ˚⟡.•

  • Times Square
  • MoMA
  • Chelsea Market
  • Central Park - Strawberry Fields // Cherry Hill // Chess & Checkers
  • Went home to rest at Hotel Saint James.
We walked around midtown Manhattan a lot trying to look for Rockefeller Plaza. I think NBC closed one part of the street so my Maps got confused and we ended up skipping it on the first day and ended up going to other places instead. It was so hard to hail an Uber in front of the Plaza. I got cancelled on 5x and this one nice lady didn’t and I was so grateful because I did not wanna have to walk back to the hotel in the freezing cold. And I don’t care what anyone else says about our hotel being a two-star hotel. It’s the best hotel in New York. I love how it looks and feels like Resident Evil inside and they have a library and a  bar down at the lobby. They let us store our luggage even though we’ve already checked out. And when the rental car didn’t schedule a return flight service, they helped us book a car to drive us to New Jersey. Our breakfast place was right across the street and there was CVS and more places to get warm drinks within a walking distance. I was originally going to stay at Bryant Park, but I didn’t like how the restrooms were see-through glass and there was only one bedroom option available. Definitely coming back to Saint James. It’s in 6th Avenue and 45th Street.

DAY TWO: ⋆˚⟡.•

  • Gumption (breakfast)
  • Rockefeller Center
  • Empire State Building
  • Grand Central Station
  • New York Public Library
I almost cried staring at the Empire State Building. I don’t know why. Who cries when they’re on top of the world?  We didn’t get to do everything in New York. But it was so nice to see my dad smile and forget about all the stress from work he’s been under lately. We were supposed to follow the suggestion made by Chat AI, but my dad was more ready to just explore and walk around. We tried to cover as many places as we could go to and that was fun enough. I can finally have the bragging rights that I've been to New York and I didn't get robbed, run over, or stepped on pee or poop whilst roaming around lol. Sadly, I did get robbed in New Jersey. I totally understand the I got hurt in Jersey bill board now. The kiosk wouldn't let me check in my bags even though we still arrived hours early and the United app didn't even bother showing the page that I just paid for two tiny luggage to be checked in so I ended up paying twice. Whatever. It's better that I didn't stuck at the airport if I missed my flight. Breaking up with United. Because that ain't it.

I don’t know what aesthetic I was going for. Raccoon 🦝 city girl ??? Lumberjack Coquette??? Pardoned TURKEY??? lol. I don’t know anymore. But I was warm and that’s all that mattered to me.

PAPA BEAR’S CITY RATINGS:

  • Cebu: 10/10
  • Bordeaux: 9/10
  • Rome: 8/10
  • DC: 8/10
  • NY: 6/10
  • Paris: 6/10
My dad’s a harsh critic lol. But it was so nice to bond with him in New Jersey and asking him about cities we’ve been to together and how he would rate them (with the exception of Cebu - because they didn’t take me on Vacation with them while I was little). I forgot to ask him about LA, but I think he would also rate it lower because of the traffic. Anyway, I was so happy my dad wore the HOKA shoes I got him for Christmas last year. Because I told him we were going somewhere where we would walk a lot together lol.

NEXT TIME IN NYC: ⋆₊˚

  • Soho (If was still 21, I would be all over the shopping scene, but I only bought stuff for family; also Henri Bendel is gone, so I wasn’t that interested in buying anything)
  • Flat Iron Building
  • Dumbo
  • Brooklyn
  • Financial District
  • Upper Manhattan
  • Staten Island
  • Madison Square

  1. Looks like you had a lovely time in New York! I've always wanted to visit NY, I love big cities and New York is one of the world's largest cities so I need to visit it one day. I'm so sorry you got robbed in New Jersey, I hope it wasn't anything too bad. ♥ www.mooeyandfriends.com

    1. It was a lovely time in New York. It is one of the biggest city I've ever been to. I was overwhelmed at first. I wasn't ready for the amount of pollution. Neither was my skin. I think I developed small bumps on my face while I was in NY. So if I ever moved here, I would definitely have to change my entire skincare routine. I'll probably start investing in Drunk Elephant and other more intensive exfoliants. I totally understand what they mean by people in NY being tough because I had a hard time in the cold weather but other people were just wearing light jackets and I don't know how they did it. I was freezing lol.

Jersey wasn't that bad. I think they just had a faulty kiosk, but the next one we tried was working. It just sucks that they won't give us a refund for paying twice.

I hope you get to visit NY soon! x
