Playful Venus Make Up Tutorial: 2020
x Maybelline Soda Pop in Soda Fizz (All over lid)
x Maybelline Soda Pop in Tonic (Brow bone highlight)

Eye | Wouldn’t this makeup look even more synchronized if I owned one of the Lime Crime Venus palettes? I don’t happen to own that one, but if you do have it in your collection, you are more than welcome to use it.

If you don’t already know, I am doing a No-Buy all year. So I would be dipping into my collection for all of 2020. In this tutorial, I wanted to get to know my Maybelline Soda Pop a bit more.

I was completely bewitched with the Soda Fizz shadow. I don’t know how to describe other than it’s the perfect YDK shadow? You know those shadows that you see everywhere that look like silver and antique gold at the same time? And then when you swatch it shifts to a different color like muted rose gold?

Soda Fizz is the perfect rose gold. It has this brown, gold, pink, nude shift that just plays so well with any lighting. It’s the perfect no make up eyeshadow look. From far away, it looks like you’re wearing nothing, but when you do look closer, it’s just the right amount of the subtlest shimmer packed in an eyeshadow. But at the same time, it’s very high wattage. It’s so hard for me to describe. But I like this eyeshadow so much.

I think this eyeshadow is too sophisticated to belong in a drugstore range. And yet, she’s here! Come through, Maybelline!

She also looks very wet and creamy on the lid. But feels very lightweight. And she’s super long-lasting! I love her. I’m scared I’m gonna hit pan on her and have to repurchase a whole palette, just for this one shadow. It makes me wish that Maybelline does sell single shadows for Soda Fizz.

I placed Tonic with my pinky on the lower arch of my brow to make Soda Fizz pop even more.

For eyeliner, brows, and mascara, I’ve used the same tried and true products that I love: Uzu, Maybelline Snapscara, Urban Decay in Demolition, and The Brow Gal.

Base | I’ve used the Soap & Glory Primer One Heck of A Blot after I’ve done a face mask and completed my skincare routine with the seven-method toner. I’ve paired it with the Soap & Glory Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation in 04. The other version I made is a lighter base and that is with the Dr. Jart CC cream. I highlighted the high points of my face with Pony Effect’s cushion foundation in Buff. I also used the cushion puff in Pony’s to spread my foundation.

Cheeks | As I’ve said previously before, I sort of created two versions of this look. One is focused on bronzer and the other more blush. I used the L’Oreal Lumi Bronze It in medium and placed it near the hollows of my cheeks. For the Blush version, it’s more focused near the eye to create an Igari look. I’m the sort of person who can’t put bronzer and blush together on my face. It just looks too busy on my already small face. So, I tend to only use one main cheek product for every look I do. I’ve used a mermaid copper brush to deposit either product on my cheeks.

Lips | Version One is bare lips if you’re into that. Version Two is the with Gloss Angeles Lip by Smash Box.

I was late with posting for Valentine’s so I’m trying to pass this off as a spring make up tutorial lol. Which is a crying shame. Should have really taken advantage of the SEO opportunity. Technically, we’re still in the “month of love” so I think the whole Venus title still works, no? :D

This look was inspired by Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. Her face just looks so bare in that painting and yet there’s still something special there. This is honestly going to be my main makeup look for all of Spring/Summer 2020.

I love this look and I hope you did too.

I want to see the looks you’ve created. I wish there was a hashtag that isn’t already taken. Leave me a comment below for any suggestions. Or just any link to your ig or twitter! I’d leave you a like and a hype comment!

Thank you so much for hanging out with me. I hope this was helpful. Take care!
