Creepy Cat by Cotton Valent Vol.3

7/07/2022

Hey guys! The summer release of Creepy Cat is finally here! There was a bit of a delay though, because I marked on my Bear calendar app that it was set to release June 15, but I remember Amazon making the readers wait until June 21 (I think a five day wait) before it was available to purchase.

So that was a bit of a bummer. I also started reading this when I was just completely busy towards the end of June, and that may have affected my rating for this particular volume. Maybe my rating is lower because I couldn’t enjoy it in one sitting.

I hate to give this rating, but it was only a 3/5 ⭐️   ⭐️    ⭐️   stars for me. I’m not a big fan of big arcs or big villains as I used to. If you’ve ever watched “Star vs. The Forces of Evil,” you’ll know that I only ever liked Season 1 and Season 2, because the storylines for those two seasons  strictly followed the formula of  1/2 magical adventures and then it’s back to local home adventures. I just prefer mini episodes and then the heroes/main characters get to go home at the end of the day and eat snacks by the couch lol.

Creepy Cat Vol. 3 does that same formula like it did for Vol. 1 & 2, but only in the first few pages, because it then rapidly spirals to the big plot that was developing. This volume focuses mainly between the back story of the relationship between the two main characters and it does a good job of explaining questions like *no spoiler alert* why they aren’t as close as they should be. Maybe this is just me, but I feel like there wasn’t a lot of horror or gothic themes injected in this volume. I found it too short of a read as well.

With that being said, I did enjoy the Scooby Gang element to it with the different characters working together. I also enjoyed the splash screens that were inserted to mark the space in between chapters. The art is still as lovely as ever. I hope Vol. 4 goes back to how Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were thematically set up: daily adventures with no big plot hovering over Flora and her feline friends.

I did look at the reviews online, and a lot of people still seem to enjoy Vol. 3. A lot of them were 4/5 stars review, so while I didn’t enjoy it as much, a lot of other people did.

Thank you for reading! I’ll see you in the next post! Take care xx
