I’m not really scared of death. I’m just more scared of being stuck here without Richard. It would be so boring. Just like my life before him. So won’t you please do me a huge favor? Can you ask Cerberus not to let Richard in? But you know my husband likes dogs, so he’d probably tell me « peace out » and leave me crying at the hospital or something to go pet Cerberus excitedly. Well, I’m gonna ask for the euthanize shot and ran after my husband. And strangle him in the Underworld. That’s crazy. A wife wanting to murder her husband when he’s already dead. That’s insane. Well, that’s what he gets for leaving me alone for even five seconds.
You know my godfather Hector, makes me think of you. I think he’s the first time I ever saw your contour. The outline of you. He’s very wealthy. But he dresses so simple and he’s nice to everyone. Homeless people in our neighborhood love him and his family. Did you know? He let my dad borrow a million dollars and deposited it in his bank account overnight so my dad can impress the US Embassy. My dad gave the money right back because they’re each other’s best friends. And then my dad moved us to the US permanently. When I think of the word wealth, I think of resources. And there’s a lot of resources underground, so I link the imagery to you. And then the word resourceful makes me think of my husband. So now I think about him. It always circles back to him.
I met him during Scorpio season. On the 26th of October. I wanted to say thank you for the Chthonic wedding. It was infinitely better than the false summer wedding in France. I think you let my Grandpa Atanacio and Vader be there too. Because the whole night felt magical. The Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos) is now my new favorite holiday. I never had a favorite holiday before. But I do now. And I like how it makes me think of Daniel Craig’s third Bond Film in Spectre. It fits the day of ghosts so well.
My favorite foxes (my two kids) are born during Scorpio season near the end of October too. So that month is now more magical to me than anything in this whole entire world.
I asked the Oracle why my husband is the most like you. It said that it’s because you are endlessly patient. You wait for Persephone to return from Spring. And it doesn’t matter how long you wait because it sharpens the hunger. It deepens the desire. So even though we’re apart now, he will wait for me.
P.S. We’d pet Cerberus together before greeting you. My Richard would spoil him. Just give us a heads up of what his favorite treat is.
