Favorite Fall Candles

I have a blogger confession to make: I’m not a candle person; o ;  I’m sorry I tricked you into clicking on this post. That was very clickbait of me.  I recently discovered that I am more of an incense person. No, not incest! Yuck. I really just fancy the smell of candles when you blow them out, so I don’t have any flavored candle suggestions for you here. If you have one for me, (I like scents that are very smoky/woodsy), I’ll happily take your recommendations!

I recently purchased a Sandalwood incense sticks from Five Below, and I really liked how it didn’t assault my olfactory senses! I used to be scared of incense because I didn’t really know how they worked. I’d always walk into TJ Maxx with my friend and I would always look at them and think they were some sort of new beauty product in the market lol. Now, I know better. I don’t use oil in conjunction with incense sticks because I don’t like overwhelming fragrances. And I definitely need like a plate or bowl of sands to hold the incense sticks in place. I temporarily use the Peach soda glass bottle I’ve been putting on for display. They seem to really go well together. It looks like one of those Korean dorm room aesthetics.

On the topic of candles tho, I just love plain candles. Can you believe we pay $20 for them now, when back in the 17th century, before electricity, that was pretty much a necessity for them? I still love watching candles though when they move and flicker. Makes the room so much cozier. It's such a nice, fragile contrast to stormy weather. Don't you agree?  I really tried falling in love with candles but I kept sniffing different ones in the Yankee Candle stores and by the end of it,  it gave me such a huge headache walking out of that store, dizzy from the all the different overpowering fragrances. Now this post looks like I’m shading candle lovers - _ -;;; I’m sorry. I'm really not. I just had to be honest with you in regards to my experiences with candles. Don’t stop loving candles though! Maybe one day when my nose stops being sensitive in the future, we can like them together!

P.S. My very favorite incense, is the green swirly one. When I was a kid, that was how we kept mosquitoes at bay. I don’t know where they sell them in the US though.

    1. Hi Molly! Thanks for stopping :) I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my blog :) xx And I love how you like candles. They are indeed cozy. They have the prettiest names too! If it weren't for my sensitive nose, I'd be collecting them :D

  2. I love candles because they create a cosy vibe, but like you I'm not too interested in the scent. They never seem to be strong enough for me to smell them, but I absolutely love the smell when it blows out.

I love incense but I live with 3 men who do not so I never get the chance to have them.

    1. Hi Han! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh wow, that's amazing, you're the complete opposite of me! And aww I'm sorry you're 3 guy roommates won't give incense a chance. Hope they change their minds about it soon because incense sticks are awesome xx

  3. Love an autumnal candle! I tend not to go for strong scents (I find scents like 'bonfire' way too strong) and tend to go for ones that fill the room with gentle spices, or smell like baked goods!

    1. Oooh baked goods and spices sound amazing! Every time I go to someone else's house they always manage to adjust the scent just right, whereas if I do it on my own home, it's so saturated and I feel like opening the windows. I think lighting a candle may be an art I'm very clumsy at lol.

And thank you Sarah, for stopping by and reading my post. I really appreciate it 💖

  4. I totally understand what you mean! I love candles, but buying candles can be very overwhelming! I can’t stand overly sweet candles because they make me nauseous. And you’re right. It is weird to think that candles used to be a staple in homes and now they cost so much money!

    1. Hi Anna 💖! Yeah, it's so weird to think that candles are luxury items now instead of necessity items lol. And yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a sensitive nose in the blogging community xx
